The engagement ring is one of the most significant pieces of jewellery you will ever wear. At NY2K Jewellers, we believe it should be as individual as the love it represents, which is why every engagement ring we create is designed and handcrafted entirely in our on-site workshop in Cotton Tree, Maroochydore.

We don't believe in one-size-fits-all. 04 · Stones & Sourcing

The stone comes first.

NY2K Jewellers has direct access to the global diamond and gemstone market, attending international trade shows to source stones that simply are not available through local suppliers. From classic round brilliant diamonds to sapphires, tanzanites, and rare fancy coloured stones - we will find the centrepiece for your ring within your budget.

When selecting a diamond, understanding the 4Cs — cut, colour, clarity and carat — is essential. The team at NY2K Jewellers will walk you through each one in plain language so you can make a confident and informed choice.

Cut, colour, clarity, carat.

    Cut

    How well the diamond is shaped and faceted. It dictates the stone's sparkle, fire, and brilliance.

  • ii.

    Colour

    The absence or presence of a natural color tint in a diamond. Graded from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow).

  • iii.

    Clarity

    The presence of internal or external flaws (inclusions). Most imperfections are microscopic.

    Carat

    The physical weight and size of the diamond.

Natural Stones, Sourced Directly

Natural, earth-mined diamonds are our speciality, sourced through established direct-trade relationships rather than traditional retail channels. Lab-grown diamonds are also available upon request. Where applicable, diamonds are supplied with independent certification for added confidence and transparency.

Paul New has been crafting fine jewellery on the Sunshine Coast for over 40 years. His commitment to traditional techniques, combined with modern design sensibilities, ensures every piece is both timeless and contemporary.

Paul New is a Fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia (№081) — one of fewer than 200 makers listed as a Fellow on the Guild's public register, with his maker's mark struck on the Guild's fine silver touch plate beside that number to be identified in perpetuity. Fellowship entitles the maker to stamps their work with the Diamond bordered Kangaroo logo, a registered trade mark of the GSGA.

Can I design a custom engagement ring?

Yes — bespoke engagement rings are one of our specialities. We design and handcraft each ring on-site in our Cotton Tree workshop, so you can create something completely unique, from a classic solitaire to an entirely original design.

Do you use natural or lab-grown diamonds in your engagement rings?

Natural, earth-mined diamonds are our speciality and what we work with by default. Lab-grown diamonds can be sourced on your request. We can also source coloured stones like Australian sapphires and rare Argyle pink diamonds for non traditional engagement rings.

How far in advance should I order a custom engagement ring?

Most custom commissions are completed within approximately two weeks. However, timeframes may vary when a specific or rare gemstone needs to be sourced, which can extend the process slightly.

If you are working towards a particular proposal date or special occasion, we encourage you to let us know at the beginning of the process. When preparing your quotation, we can discuss the required timeframe and confirm what can be achieved to ensure your piece is completed with the care and attention it deserves.

How much does a custom engagement ring cost?

Each ring is quoted individually, based on the design, metal and diamond/gemstone you choose. We will provide a clear quote after your consultation, before any work begins. Book a consultation for a personalised estimate.

Can I book an appointment to discuss my engagement ring?

Most definitely. You are welcome to visit our Cotton Tree showroom during opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9:30am–4pm) and appointments can be arranged online through our booking portal. Saturday or after hours appointments are available if pre-booked in advance with Paul.
